Restless Legs Syndrome

RLS is another common sleep disorder characterized by irritating symptoms in the legs which occurs mostly at night or when inactive.  The sensations may be like feeling bugs crawling on your skin or prickly sensations which improve with movement.  The cause is a deficiency in Dopamine circuits in the spinal cord and the treatment is usually with medications used for Parkinson’s disease only at lower doses.  Sometimes it is associated with low iron levels in the blood and requires iron supplements.
